The only time you have to worry about a Filipina becoming Westernized is if you bring them back to the West... My wife has been here only a year, and she fights it, but the West corrupts...

I have noticed high electricity bills. Is that basically because foreigners tend to have air con all day and TV all day etc. From what I remember my wife's family back in 2011 were paying about 1,000 pesos per month but they did not have air con and TV all day and night.

Hi, "Paul"..., When I lived in Thailand and Vietnam..., I hired a young lady to come into my apartment and clean, once per week for $5.00 (USD), including the dishes ! ! No hassle, no problems and she was a wealth of information for Thailand and Vietnam... * I now live in Vietnam and the ( Lower-Cost-Of-Living ) with everything is amazing... I have lived or visited the following Southeast Asian countries, ( e.g., Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and the Philippines, etc. ). * I am 77 years old on a great pension from Montana Power ( 32 years ), + VA Benefits, and Social Security and have ( no problems ) with the beautiful women in these foreign countries and they are ( passive ) with passion and do ( NOT ) want to fight or argue over " nothing ", like in the United States... * Southeast Asian women are far different, from American women in the United States... "Thank God ! !" One thing I learned quickly from watching these videos from ex-pats is you better make some fellow ex-pat friends right away, if not before, when you land there. Like Paul said they have their community to lean on and guys like John don't. Nothing against the Filipinos but I would not want to live there without my own circle of fellow Americans that I like and trust. I believe with that John probably would have made it through this better. Then again I have seen so many friendships busted up over a woman. We used to call them Yoko's. I really appreciate John sharing all this with us. He really poured it out on the table for us. I see a lot of guys being really rough on him here too. I think the moves he made early on were reasonable and probably even typical, but I think how he still sees his, I will call her "ex" sweetheart, girlfriend is really naive. He thinks she might go BACK to the girl she was before. I think she has been revealed to be the girl she always was but she appeared to be the girl he thinks she was before. She likely never was that ideal girl. As far as where I think he went wrong, I think as soon as they started treating him like crap in the home he built them THAT'S when he should have walked away... even if it did mean sleeping on the beach. All that said I also think it's crazy that he can't even return to his home country without sponsors to meet him at the airport, WTF? He's a US citizen!

Considering that your Baby Mae still enjoys wearing a bikini, I wouldn't worry that your wife has become too westernized. On the other hand, it would be impossible for any Philippine woman NOT to become a little westernized when married to an American.

A Filipina I know went at age 7 to work. Up at 4. Clean house cook. Then walk to school. Return to cook and clean. Study after midnight. Then back at it.
